Arduino

The Arduino is a popular open-source development platform based on the AVR micro-processors.

It's strength lies in it's popularity and the extensive library of code that is freely available for the platform.  This makes prototyping and programming with an Arduino rapid, even in the hands of a novice programmer.

The Arduino uses a language based on C++ and has a free downloadable IDE.

These are links to Arduino sites and pages.
